First-light at Pole: Images
The Moon: Note postive signal at center and negative signals at either side.
Negative signals are due to chopping secondary. The chopper-throw was 0.5
degree. Smearing of image is due to motion of Moon with respect to celestial
sphere.
RCW 57 is the positive signal in the upper row - slightly left of center. Note
the negative signals - located 0.5 degree on either side of positive signal.
These are due to chopping. The square-shaped structures seen in this image, and
other features not associated with RCW57, are caused by microphonics and/or
intermittent sky noise. Our detection of RCW 57 - at this same sky location -
was confirmed in a second map not shown here.
