Summary of dicussion during chop-nod analysis telecon of Sept. 19, 07 Martin, Hiroko, Mike, John, Giles _________________________________________________________________ status of IRAS 20126 analysis: Darren made some rgm files and they are on zamin in the calibrations subdirectory. Hiroko still needs to compare them to one another and make an average. John has software that can do that but it is not too user friendly. Hiroko needs to do pointing analysis. Smoothed tau is posted on the analysis logbook and ready to use. Results of mountain-top analysis are posted and agree well with the astro-ph paper by Curran and Chrysostomou, but show seemingly poor internal consistency, reinforcing necessity of reduced-chi square computation. Future modifications to sharp-combine: John wanted to know if anyone has an opinion on whether we should output I,q,u or I,Q,U. Note: he sent E-mail on this topic. Conversion between q and Q requires use of smoothed I. Manipulation of fits files is needed to produce P and Phi, which is just as hard as converting between Q and q. So it doesn't matter too much. An advantage to using I,Q, and U is that all three maps will have same units. IDL bug on zamin: Martin noted that IDL 6.3 is installed on zamin and there is customer support. He suggested that John try to see if the bug was still there. John did so in real time by running a few simple commands. He got a segmentation fault. Martin will investigate. Next week's agenda: We decided that the agenda for next week should be (a) updates from everyone on ongoing chop-nod analysis work and (b) a discussion of Giles' DG Tau memo. Please note that we will not discuss the outdated section on i.p. correction. List-serves for SHARP: We decided to create some list-serves for SHARP. One could be used for chop-nod analysis E-mail traffic. Hopefully they could be linked. Giles will investigate. _____________________________________________________________
