Prepare for Observing
Before pointing SPARO at astronomical sources the following
procedures must be performed.
- Set up the Chopper. SPARO requires a square wave chop
with about a 1 degree throw and a 3.1 Hz frequency.
- Set the phase on the data system. To begin with, start with
the value arrived at during the summer tests. It is listed in the
current logbook.
-
Open the Blank off wheel. The closed position should read 600
on the turn counter. The open position is 000, arrived at via a
counter clockwise rotation of 6 turns. (I.E. 000: open, 600: closed,
never go through 800)
